ESSAYS & INSIGHTS
In Year 10, my trumpet teacher told me that if I pursued a career in music, I wouldn’t have to write the essays that were boring me to death in English class. That sounded like a good way out.
In Year 11, my history teacher thought I had interesting things to say but relied too much on emotion. When I lost interest in a topic, my effort plummeted—apparently, that wasn’t ideal.
In my first year of university, I thought it would be funny to scrawl my lecturer’s name in shorthand across the title page of an assignment. Mr. Tim Dobbyn crossed out “Dobz” and wrote his full name before handing me a 51%.
So, it’s kind of funny that I now choose to write in my free time. Turns out, when you find something worth putting in the work for, things shift.
These essays and insights reflect my lived experience and evolving perspective. Some of the ideas here have led to invitations on radio and podcasts. If you’d like to discuss them—or have me join your program—you’re welcome to get in touch.
