IN THE MEDIA

I've followed mental health coverage in the media for years and noticed a significant gap in whose voices are heard. Conversations are often led by academic experts or service leaders, but they frequently overlook the experiences of frontline workers and those who use these services.

While podcasting has given some space to peer voices, and a handful of advocates appear on the ABC, public discussions rarely reflect the reform agenda that calls for community-driven, lived experience-led support.

My engagement with media isn’t about seeking attention—it's about contributing to conversations that push for the systemic change researchers and advocates say is needed. I also believe in the power of independent journalism to hold governments and services accountable.
